Jardin des Plantes de Lille

Established in 1948, the Jardin des plantes de Lille has a diverse collection of plant species, including medicinal herbs, exotic plants and native flora. The 11ha garden’s main attraction lies in its picturesque layout with manicured lawns, winding pathways and themed areas that showcase the beauty and biodiversity of the plant kingdom.

It is one of three botanic gardens in Lille; however, the other two are much smaller and are much farther from the city centre.

One of the highlights of the Jardin des Plantes is its impressive collection of over 1,000 species of plants, meticulously arranged to create a harmonious and visually stunning environment. The garden also features several themed areas, such as the rose garden, the alpine garden and the tropical greenhouse, each offering a unique botanical experience.

Visiting the Jardin des plantes de Lille

Wedged between the A25 autoroute and a railway line, the garden is a little out of the way; however, it is more centrally-located than Lille’s two other botanic gardens and it is easily accessible by metro. Both Porte d’Arras and Porte de Douai metro stations are around a five-minute walk from the gardens.
