La Vieille Bourse

Lille’s old stock exchange

La Vieille Bourse, or the old stock exchange, is a prominent landmark in the heart of Lille city centre. Its quadrangle structure comprises 24 identical houses surrounding an inner courtyard.

The building has a rich history dating back to the 17th century. Constructed between 1652 and 1653, it was designed by the architect Julien Destrée in the architectural style typical of the Flemish Renaissance.

Over the years, the inner courtyard of la Vieille Bourse has evolved into a vibrant marketplace. Today, it hosts book markets, flower markets, chess games and serves as a meeting point for locals and tourists alike.
