Hotel Carlton

Hotel Carlton is a grand hotel overlooking Place du Théâtre. The hotel epitomises the grandeur of early 20th-century French architecture with its striking façade and luxurious interiors. Over the decades, the Carlton has hosted numerous dignitaries and celebrities, becoming a cultural landmark.

For such a grand establishment, the hotel isn’t as big as you would expect and it only has 59 rooms. Rooms are split between classic rooms and privilege rooms plus junior suites and the Coupole suite.

All rooms are air-conditioned and feature comfortable beds, a desk, a flatscreen television, a mini bar with complimentary water, tea-and-coffee-making facilities including a Nespresso pod espresso machine and en suite bathrooms with bathrobes, slippers and the hotel’s own branded toiletries. Privilege rooms are a step up, offering views of Place du Théâtre. Classic rooms range from 16m² to 23m² and privilege rooms range from 19m² to 26m².

At 32m² to 46m², the hotel’s junior suites offer more space with separate living and sleeping areas and the 80m² Coupole suite has prime position inside the dome at the top of the building. The Coupole suite is a big upgrade where you can spread out over two floors connected by a spiral staircase.

The hotel’s rooms and suites have a traditional decor with some Art Deco elements, which is in keeping with the historic nature of the hotel.

The hotel has extensive public areas including a bar with views over Place du Théâtre and the cosy Saint James Bar. The hotel is noted for its brunch and afternoon tea and guests also have access to a fitness centre with a sauna.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

Hotel Carlton is possibly the best-located hotel in Lille with an unbeatable location at the top of rue Pierre Mauroy, overlooking Place du Théâtre and the hotel’s suites and privilege rooms have views of Place du Théâtre, including the Opera House, the Vieille Bourse and the Chamber of Commerce with its iconic belfry.

The main points of interest in the city centre are all within a five-minute walk from the hotel and it is around a 10-minute walk to the heart of Vieux Lille. It is a five-minute walk to Gare Lille Flandres and a 12-minute walk to Gare Lille Europe.
