Le Tripostal

Contemporary art venue

Le Tripostal is a venue dedicated to contemporary art exhibitions in Lille. Built in the 1950s as a mail sorting centre, it was repurposed for cultural activities during “Lille 2004, European Capital of Culture”, transforming it into a significant hub for contemporary art.

The venue has three 2000m² floors that offer flexible exhibition setups and, unlike many other contemporary art galleries, it doesn’t have a permanent collection and instead is focused on hosting a programme of temporary exhibitions. Because of this, your experience can vary greatly, depending on the current exhibition programme.

Temporary exhibitions at le Tripostal

Animalis Machina Cococh Industry
Animalis Machina Cococh Industry is an immersive exhibition (until 2 March 2025) by Franck Dion. The exhibition transforms the space into a futuristic food production facility, questioning humanity’s relationship with animals and consumption. Visitors will explore different sections of the factory, from egg and dairy production to the creation of a pet designed for social media attention. The installation imagines a world where animals function as machines, continuously producing for consumer demand, with artificial intelligence shaping their welfare. The exhibition raises questions about the nature of animals in a technologically driven society. Are they living beings with souls, or just machines? Produced by Loom Prod and Rainbox Productions, with support from the City of Lille and Rencontres Audiovisuelles, the exhibition will be accompanied by workshops and talks from the Lille Natural History Museum.
