Mercure Lille Centre Grand-Place

The Mercure Lille Centre Grand-Place hotel is a hotel in a 19th-century Haussmann-style building. It is also one of Lille’s best located hotels, tucked behind the Opera and just a stone’s throw from Place du Théâtre and the Grand’Place.

The hotel’s 101 air-conditioned rooms all have comfortable beds, a flatscreen television, a chair with a table that can be used as a work desk (not as good as a dedicated desk), a small fridge, tea-and-coffee-making facilities and en suite bathrooms with Nuxe toiletries.

Privilege rooms also include a Nespresso pod coffee machine, as do the hotel’s suites, which also provide more space with separate living and sleeping areas.

The rooms have a contemporary decor featuring large photos of Yayoi Kusama’s giant tulips, which you can see outside Gare Lille Europe, that would look great in most other hotels but the design feels a little out-of-place when set inside such a grand building.

Normally you would expect a hotel in such a grand building to have extensive public areas; however, the common areas at this Mercure hotel are limited to a nice lobby area, a bar and a breakfast area.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

This is one of Lille’s best-located hotels. It is right in the heart of the city, tucked away behind the Lille Opera and only a two-minute walk to Place du Théâtre and a three-minute walk to the Grand’Place. Points of interest within a 10-minute walk include the cathedral, the Musée des Canonniers, the Musée de l’Hospice Comtesse, la Vieille Bourse, le Tripostal and the Westfield Euralille shopping centre.

Both Rihour and Lille Flandres metro stations are just a five-minute walk from the hotel.
